What is the funiest thing you have ever heard an anouncer say?
Baseball at 10 November 2009 08:11:16
QWheather it be a screw up, or them trying to be funny, what was it & who was it?Example:2008 NLDS Rafeal Furcal batting Joe Buck said "Furcal missed time earlier this season due to an emergency visectamy" lol aparently Joe Buck was meaning to say apendectamy, but it came out Joe said he got an emergency snipping, he must have been getting women pregnant all over the country or something!
AMike Shannon (Cardinals radio broadcaster) cornered the market with these gems:"That Ray Lankford and Brian Jordan are a one man wrecking crew".Broadcasting from New York under a full moon:"I wish you folks back in St. Louis could see this moon."Referring to Japanese pitching sensation Hideo Nomo:"He's is the biggest thing to hit Japan since they dropped that bomb on Nagashima!"Referring to a questionable ruling by the official scorer:"Well, no one’s perfect. Only one guy was ever perfect, Jack, and they nailed him to a tree!"Referrinng to ex-Cardinals outfielder Bernard Gilkey: "Gilkey was originally born in University City.""He's faster than a chicken being chased by Ronald McDonald!"Referring to Mike Schmidt:"...the longtime, and soon-to-be, Hall-of-Famer."Referring to a Home Run by Ted Simmons:"Well, that's the bread on Simmons's butter."Broadcasting the day before Easter:"I just want to tell everyone Happy Easter and Happy Hanukkah."When the Cubs' Derrick Lee took 2nd base late in the game without a throw from the Cardinals' catcher:"Lee runs into second...they'll just let him go. They call that runner's indifference...or something like that. Hah. "Urging Scott Rolen to take a pitch on 3-0:"You don't kick that dog as he's sleeping on the porch, you don't step on his tail, you just walk on by. If you step on his tail, he might jump up and bite you on the ankle or the kneecap."Talking about a road game in Montreal:"This game is moving along pretty quick, it must have something to do with the exchange rate."Referring to a young fan who was hit with a foul ball: "And that youngster will leave the stadium with a souvenir today. Not a ball, but a nice looking bruise."After closer Jason Isringhausen lost his command of the strike zone:"Izzy's like a wild hare in March, running all over the lot!"Referring to the Busch Stadium organist:"Ernie Hayes is up there playing with his organ.”After a batter leading off the ninth inning with his team down by three took a mighty swing but missed: "He was trying to hit a three run homer with the bases empty. To my knowledge, no one in the history of the game has ever done that. But it could happen someday. You never know in this world of baseball."After ex-Cardinals outfielder Brian Jordan was hit by a pitch for the fourth time on one road trip:"Jordan must feel like a Ouija Board."Referring to former manager Whitey Herzog:"The key thing is, he has that photogenic mind."While Mike and Joe were discussing unflattering photographs of players that had been flashed on the screen at another ballpark, Mike's take on the quality of the photo selection:"Some of those guys look like the picture was taken while they were seeing their first UFO."After several seconds of laughter, Joe adds:"As opposed to their second or third."The TV lights were on in the press box and the umpire stopped the game until they were turned off:“The reason you can’t do that is the light will get in the fielder’s eyes and they’ll get hit right between the coconuts

What kind of changes if any do you think the Pistons will make to the starting 5?
Basketball at 04 June 2008 07:06:20
QAnd rumors say that the Heat are looking to trade D Wade... do you think the Pistons will make a big move for a guy like Wade or any other big names in the NBA? Or do you think Joe Dumars will stay with his team/defense ideal and just try to fill in what they need in order to make it back to the finals? Who do you see leaving/staying and who do you think would like to be in Detroit?
Ai think they need to keep billups and hamilton in the backcourt. they need to find a way to get prince goin offensive wise or trade him. in the celtics series he had trouble scoring. sheed needs help i think they should try to sign jermaine oneal, antwan jamison, or maybe elton brand so they have solid frontcourt play. Also if we could strike a deal with the rockets like prince, mcdyess, juan dixon, and 1st round pick for mcgrady, and francis or alston that be cool. the starting 5 next year would be; pg Billups, sg Hamiltion, sf Mcgrady, pf ( jermaine, antwan,or brand ) center sheedbench would be (francis or alston) stucky, hayes, maxell, ratlif

How many think Joe Pa is a class act?
Football (American) at 17 May 2009 12:05:34
QI am a Tennessee fan and a SEC homer. However, I've got to say that Joe Pa will go down in my mind as one of the greatest coaches ever. I love what he said about the playoff situation yesterday on ESPN. It couldn't have put a better way. If Penn St. lets him go before he passes, they are crazy.
AHayes like you totally agree this Great Coach is still competitive and a very Awesome Individual. I am an LSU fan and Love to see Joe Patrino Coach. He has beaten the best. No matter how you cut the pie such coaches as Paul Bryant, Joe Patrino, Bobby Bowden are modern day Mega Coaches one passed on. Enjoy the other 2 while we can.

What should pistons do with roster after loss to Celtics?
Basketball at 02 June 2008 11:06:23
QI'm a huge Pistons fan, and after they lost to the Celtics, what do you guys think Joe D should do to the roster during the off season
AI'm a huge fan of theirs also. I'm hoping we can keep the team strong without having to rebuild.C - I'm sure that there isn't squat out there for centers right now via free agency. So you either stick with Sheed or trade him and your draft pick for a center. Honestly I know people want Rasheed out, but who can they get that's better? Unless you can find a player of equal or better value there's no sense in trading him. This season Amir Johnson needs to get 20 minutes per game as backup center.PF - I'd love Maxiell to be in the starting lineup, he's earned it and he plays well there. McDyess should go back to being the 6th man, he's more comfortable there and a more productive scoring/defensive punch.SF - I would definitely KEEP Tayshaun Prince, he's the Backbone of the Pistons defense. He's not the greatest scorer, but they can't afford to lose him. Besides he should be entering his prime about next season. Jarvis Hayes' future is up in the air, Flip Saunders refused to use him in the playoffs when they needed his outside shot. So if they keep him good and if not go after somebody like Matt Barnes of GS for a backup.SG - Rip Hamilton, definitely keep him. No other players like him around. He was the lone consistent player throughout the Boston series. Washington guard Roger Mason is up for grabs he's n unrestricted FA and he would give them another shooter off the bench.PG - Chauncey is still captain and has a couple good years left. Stuckey will succeed him after his contract ends in 2 years. Lindsey will retire. Stuckey will resume point guard duties spliting time and the 1 and 2 guard.Hayes, Dixon and Herrmann are all free agents and I doubt they'll be back.

What does it take to become a head coach of a football team?
Football (American) at 15 April 2007 09:04:18
Qim only 14 but im going to high school in september. and i want to do something with my career sports related. and i dont think im a good enough athlete to play pro sports. and i either want to be a head coach of a franchise, because i have great ideas on what some teams should do, or become a sports journalist because i know pretty much all there is about football. i just want to know what it takes to become a nfl head coach or sports journalist so i could take the classes in high school i need for that job. so if any1 knows please tell me.
AHey pal, I know what your looking at here. I am 19, and just starting college and I am going into coaching. I have done alot of research toward this. I know that this is a huge answer, but if you are serious about coaching, please read all of it.1 Teams on any level want coaching experience, so get this any way you can. Play all the way through highschool, then, if your good enough, play all the way through college. If you cant cut it in college, see if your highschool coach will let you help coach your JV team, do as much coaching as you can. You will have to start at the bottom and work your way up, just as though you were a player.2 If you are good enough to play in college, do that, then when you graduate, try to become a junior assistant at that college, and then skip the high school stage. This is how all the big name coaches got started. Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, Joe Paterno, Bo Schembecler, Woody Hayes, all of them have coached on alot of different levels, they werent great right off the bat.3 As far as classes go, you should go into another marketable major. I mean, just in case. What would be worse than to take all of these coaching classes, and then find out that its not what you hoped for, or you dont have what it takes. Better safe than sorry.4 With that said, I would look to go into teaching. Its not that much different from coaching. Also, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!! Many junior assistants in college become Highschool head coaches. If this is the case, the schools will want some one that is also on there teaching staff. This is because of all these budget cuts, most schools cannot aford someone who is only a coach, most have to teach as well.5 Now, there are 2 ways to go here. You can teach something like physical Ed. and weight training, ETC. These will come in handy when you are training your football players. Way number 2 is to do a more marketable subject like math or science. This will not help train players, but it will help you get a job. If you dont get the job, you wont need to know how to train players.6 Now for the hard part. You have to be good. Thats all there is to it. Thats all the NFL is looking for. They want to win games. So, this is you. You win three consecutive state highschool titles. You get a job at the little college. You stay there a few years and win several conference championships. Now, you get a job at the big school. Your the coach at Michigan, or USC, or Ohio State, heaven forbid. You win two or three national titles, some conference titles. Now, some piss poor pro team want to win some ball games this year. So heres your big chance, go gettem.
