Abstract

Novel compounds and pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed which are inhibitors of the enzyme, farnesyl protein transferase. Also disclosed is a method of inhibiting Ras function and therefore inhibiting the abnormal growth of cells. The method comprises administering the novel aminooxyamide compound to a biological system. In particular, the method inhibits the abnormal growth of cells in a mammals such as a human.

Pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds, methods of using these compounds as inhibitors of nitric oxide synthase and processes for synthesizing these compounds are also described herein.

Claim

What is claimed is: 1. A compound of formula (Ya), formula (Yb) or formula (Yc): wherein: n and m are independently an integer from 1 to 4; A is —C(O)OR1 or —C(O)N(R1)R2; each W is N or CH; each R1 is independently hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; each R2 is independently hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl, —(CH2)n—N(R1)2, heterocyclylalkyl (optionally substituted by alkyl, halo, haloalkyl or alkoxy), aralkyl (optionally substituted by halo, alkyl, alkoxy, or —N(R1)2); when m is an integer from 2 to 4, R4 can be hydroxy, —N(R1)R2, —N(R1)—C(O)—R1, —N(R1)—C(O)OR1, —N(R1)—S(O)t—R1, or —N(R1)—C(O)—N(R1)2; when m is an integer from 1 to 4, R4 can also be cyano or heterocyclyl; R5 is hydrogen, halo, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or haloalkyl; and t is zero, one or two; as a single stereoisomer or mixture thereto, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 2. The compound of claim 1 having the formula (Yc) wherein: n is 1; m is 2 or 3; A is —C(O)OR1 or —C(O)N(R1)R2; each W is CH; R1 is hydrogen or alkyl; and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, —(CH)n—N(R1)2, optionally substituted heterocyclylalkyl or optionally substituted aralkyl. 3. The compound of claim 2 wherein R4 is —N(R1)R2 where R1 is hydrogen or alkyl and R2 is heterocyclylalkyl selected from the group consisting of (1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)methyl or (1,4-benzodioxan-6-yl)methyl. 4.

Abstract

A ground fault interrupter apparatus is provided that employs a switching device that is operated in two stages. The first stage operates a solenoid in order to close the contacts and preferably provides coupling between the load and the power source. The second stage maintains the coupling, however, drawing less current and power from the internal devices of the apparatus. Accordingly, the fault interrupter meets various standards for the time required to open and close the contacts as well as keeping the dissipated heat from the device within the required range.

Claim

What is claimed is: 1. A fault interrupter apparatus comprising: first and second input terminals for connection to the line and neutral terminals, respectively, of a power source; first and second output terminals for connection to the line and neutral terminals, respectively, of a load; first and second conductive paths extending, between said first and second input terminals and said first and second output terminals; first and second contact sets for completing and interrupting said first and second conductive paths, respectively; an actuator for operating said first and second contact sets; and first and second electronic switching devices coupled to said actuator, said first electronic switching device being adapted to energize said actuator for a selected period of time, said second electronic switching device being adapted to commence energization of said actuator after said first electronic switching device ceases operation. 2. A fault interrupter apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising: a fault sensing circuit adapted to produce a fault signal in response to an imbalance between current, flowing in said first and second conductive paths that is indicative of a ground fault condition at said load. 3. A fault interrupter apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said actuator comprises a solenoid. 4.

Abstract

An apparatus and method is provided for detecting motion or displacement of an object in a monitored zone. The apparatus is disposed between a load and a power source and comprises a transmitter for providing a pulsed signal within a monitored zone. The pulsed signal interacts with objects in the monitored zone and provides a return signal. A receiver receives echoes from a return signal of the pulsed record signal, and a microcontroller circuit processes the echoes.
