Abstract

A bone plate locking system including a threaded screw body having a proximal end and a distal end and a plate with a through-hole. The proximal end includes a head. The head includes an upper portion, a groove adjacent the upper portion and a lower portion adjacent the groove, wherein a center-axis of the groove is off-axis to a center-axis of the threaded screw body. A locking ring configured to reside within the groove of the head. The through-hole includes an upper portion, a groove adjacent the upper portion and a lower portion adjacent the groove. The head is receivable in the through-hole. The locking ring is rotatably positioned around the groove of the head such that in an unlocked position the locking ring is outside the groove of the through-hole and in a locked position the locking ring is at least partially within the groove of the through-hole.

Abstract

A bone plate screw-blocking system and method that comprises a plate with at least two bone screw receiving holes, blocking elements, bone screws, and a tool capable of simultaneously actuating at least two blocking elements. The plate includes an upper surface and a lower surface with bone screw receiving holes that extend through both surfaces of the plate. The bone screws couple the plate to the bone via the bone screw receiving holes. The blocking elements are movably positioned proximate each bone screw receiving hole. In an initial unblocked position, the blocking elements do not cover the bone screw receiving holes. Upon movement into final blocked positions, the blocking elements cover at least a portion of the bone screw receiving holes and preferably extend over at least a portion of the bone screw during use.

Abstract

A spinal implant for placement between first and second vertebrae includes a housing having first and second axial end surfaces and a bore extending along an axis through the housing and between the end surfaces. A first projection extends at least partially about the axis and including a channel. A lift is slidably received in the bore and includes threads along its length. A collar is threadably engaged with the lift and extends into the channel on the housing such that the projection prevents axial movement of the collar relative to the housing. Rotation of the collar about the axis causes the lift to move axially relative to the collar and the housing for adjusting the height of the implant.

Abstract

A drive apparatus is provided to transmit force from a source of power to a driven assembly, such as a pump, in an aircraft. The drive apparatus can be operated from a disengaged condition back to an engaged condition when the aircraft is on the ground. The drive apparatus includes a first annular array of teeth which is connected with an input member and a second annular array of teeth which is connected with an output member. A plurality of disengagement levers extend outward from the output member. A retaining member is connected with outer end portions of the disengagement levers. An actuator member or yoke is movable to move the retaining member and the outer ends of the engagement levers to disengage the drive apparatus.

Abstract

Devices and methods are provided for assisting in spinal stabilization. An access device is provided that includes an outer sleeve, inner sleeve, spring latch and lock nut. The inner sleeve includes compressible grasping elements. The access device can be coupled to a screw head by sliding the outer sleeve relative to the inner sleeve and compressing the grasping elements. The coupled access device and screw can then be delivered to a target location in a patient. After providing two or more access devices, a rod member can be delivered using a rod insertion device. The rod member can serve as a connection between the two screws, and can provide spinal stabilization. An anti-torque device and a persuading device can be used to help ensure that the rod member is placed and secured in a proper location within a patient.
