What's a text that conflicts with Oliver Stones perspective on JFK assassination?
Homework Help at 02 August 2009 03:08:53
QI'm having trouble finding a text that has a solid perspective on the assassination of JFK. A lot of articles i've been finding are based on all the different theories. If anyone knows of any form of text that represents a perspective of the JFK assassination that differs to Oliver Stones film JFK- for example, the magic bullet theory, could you please tell me :) Thanks.
ATo specifically answer your question about Oliver Stone's JFK I went to http://www.jfk-online.com/jfk100bigjim.html which is a site dedicated to the subject matter. They pick Oliver Stone apart. Here's some text (newspaper quotes) that *factually* conflicts with the film:"For those who have forgotten or are too young to remember," Dallas Morning News reporter Jon Margolis wrote in May 1991, "Garrison was the bizarre New Orleans district attorney who, in 1969, claimed that the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was a conspiracy by some officials of the Central Intelligence Agency." "Garrison even managed to put one hapless fellow on trial for his role in this alleged conspiracy," Margolis continued. "Having no case, Garrison lost in court."(1)Washington Post reporter George Lardner, Jr., who had covered Garrison's JFK probe in the late 1960s, received an early draft of the JFK screenplay and promptly weighed in with his opinion. ". . . Oliver Stone is chasing fiction," he wrote. "Garrison's investigation was a fraud."(2)

Q1. Whitney Mercilus, DE2. Josh Robinson, CB3. Josh Norman, CB4. Ben Jons, C5. Oliver Vernon, DE7. BJ Cunningham, WR7. DJ Campbell, SBQ: There have been talks about the Lions trading up to get either Mark Barron or Stephon Gilmore. Do you see either happening?
AMercilus will not be there when the Lions pick. I still think they will take Janoris Jenkins.

What will the Mets do with their starting rotation?
Baseball at 12 December 2008 03:12:11
QSantana, Maine, and Pelfrey are pretty much locked in there. Jon Niese is a possibility for a 5th starter, but I'd rather leave him as a 6th starter or minor league callup rather than put him right into the rotation. So how will they fill up the other two spots? Who do you think they'll get? I think maybe Jon Garland would be OK for the right price.
AI think Jon Garland isn't a bad option, but it'll depend on the years and money he wants. In my opinion, he's not worth more than 3 years at around 10-12 million per year. Omar Minaya has said they have a 50/50 chance at re-signing Oliver Perez. The problem with Ollie is that he can turn into a horrible pitcher in like a month, but he's made significant strides. I'd be also willing to give Perez the same kind of deal as Garland, but nothing more. The good thing about both Garland and Perez is they're healthy and still in their 20's. Perez' is lefty too and tends to do best against the best teams so there's an incentive to holding onto him. Garland's a much more stable and reliable option. The definition of a 4 starter. He'll eat innings. But his ERA will always be around 4.50. You can always count on him for 6 innings 3 earned runs.A creative route the Mets may try to go is sign Randy Wolf. Wolf was a type B free agent was not offered arbitration by the Astros. So by signing him the Mets don't have to forfeit any draft picks in next June's draft. Than who ever signs Oliver Perez has to give the Mets two draft picks because he's a type A. Those picks would compensate for what the Mets loss when signing K-Rod. So it'd help allow the Mets farm system to grow better and quicker. The problem with Wolf though is that he's only pitched 76 games over the last 4 seasons. While he started 33 games this season, he's only averaged 19 starts over the last 4 seasons. He may only be able to reel in a 2 year deal because of this. If the Mets are able to sign him to a 2 year deal for like 20 million, than I say do it. They Mets shouldn't re-sign Pedro. We can't rely on him with his health concerns, along with giving up a first inning run in 18 out of 20 starts and having a really high ERA. The Mets and Cubs are negotiating a deal for Jason Marquis right now. Marquis is a good back end of the rotation type pitcher. He's made 158 starts over the past 5 seasons. He's a healthy pitcher. He won 11 games and had a 4.53 ERA last season. Marquis is due 9.8 million next season. He's a free agent after 2009. So there's not much risk there. The thing that'd make sense that I've been hearing is a swap with Schoenweis. Schoenweis is due 3.6 million next season, so it'd really only be as if the Mets were paying 6.2 million. Schoenweis is a must go reliever much like how Aaron Heilman was anyway.Ace - Santana2 - Pelfrey3 - Maine4 - Garland5 - Marquis or LooperNiese or Parnell would likely assume the 5 SP role in 2010. Other options that should be considered for the 5 SP in 2010 are Brad Penny on an incentive laden type deal. The guy was one of the best pitchers in the game a couple years ago. One SP who's really been under the radar too is ex-Met Braden Looper. He wasn't offered arbitration from the Cardinals. He made 33 starts, threw 199 IP's and had a 4.16 ERA last season. Those are good numbers. I'd consider signing him to a 2 or 3 year deal. Odalis Perez could be considered too. If at a reasonable price, why not Andy Pettite? Houston's too cheap to spend on him. The Yankees didn't offer him arbitration and are looking to spend higher on Burnett or Lowe. The Dodgers may not go for him if they've vaguely stayed out of trying to re-sign Lowe who had 4 good seasons with them. He wouldn't have to move. He's got loads of postseason experience. He might be worth like 1 year/13 million.

Do you like the Daily Show with Jon Stewart?
Media & Journalism at 24 December 2008 01:12:02
QI used to like it way more a couple of years ago. John Oliver gets on my nerves for some reason. But that's just me.
AJon Stewart and his writers are one of the most creative and informative shows on T.V.Stewart is for the instant communication and global network world what Mark Twain and Will Rogers were to their generations. They all realized that truth can be more easily digested if covered with sugar .If you find Oliver irritating, do not worry, he will not be there long. The show is launching pad for talent.... Like Steven Courbet and Steve Carell.Stewart is for today's aspiring humorists what SNL and Johnny Carson were in the eighty's and ninety's.The Daily Show's target is the system. He takes on conservative and liberal instances of corruption and incompetence. The Bush/Cheney regime was such rich fodder for that kind of stuff, but as Rod Blagojevich is already demonstrating there will never be an end to that kind of stuff as long as there are egotistical and greedy politicians. The other networks should take notes on Jon Stewart.

Comedy at 25 July 2012 05:07:59
QI usually like british humor but this guy has never even made me smile once. Here's a suggestion john stewart. Why not hire a conservative comedian or atleast an independent and quit performing oral copulation on Obama on a daily basis via your show.
ANo. Not at all.And it's Jon Stewart, not John Stewart.

How is Kate Gosselin going to take care of eight kids on her own?
Celebrities at 23 June 2009 05:06:52
QMaybe the camera crews that follow her around 24/7 can lend a helping hand. Can people get over this "celebrity" and end her five minutes of fame already?
AHi Oliver Kate and Jon always had help with the eight kids. I don't think that will change just because they are getting divorced. They have bags of money to buy help now, that they didn't have before.I feel that the public has been duped. Jon and Kate put on this facade of a happy marriage for how long? Just for the money? They've had their 5 minutes. I'm definitely not interested anymore.

Do you or anyone have experiences with an Asperger boyfriend?
Psychology at 23 October 2012 05:10:24
QI'd like to know what the positive things are that i should aim at. i have it myself and its damn difficult to understand people, let alone women and girls. they are a complete mystery! you can learn about the male behavior through books and expereince, but not about women they are too complicated! So could anybody share experiences if they have any about this subject?
ASee http://myweb.usf.edu/~begeiger/as-symptoms.html & http://www.aspergers.com & http://www.udel.edu/bkirby/asperger/support.html & http://www.aspergerssociety.org/index20cause.htm?gclid=CPCNguvVtJ0CFZMwpAodVX4mkQ & http://www.tonyattwood.com.au/links.html There are courses, where Aspies are taught the interpretation of social cues, and behaviour appropriate to certain circumstances. Google: "asperger's syndrome; training courses (your location)" There are also books on social skills; Social Skills Training for Children and Adolescents with Asperger Syndrome and Social-Communications Problems by Jed Baker, & "People Skills," written by Robert Bolton, Ph.D. The book help will help with communication in all areas. It helps when you have anxiety in "people" situations. Others are: Asperger's From the Inside Out: A Supportive and Practical Guide for Anyone with Asperger's Syndrome by Michael John Carley and Ed.D., Peter F. Gerhardt, & The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome by Tony Attwood, & The OASIS Guide to Asperger Syndrome: Completely Revised and Updated: Advice, Support, Insight, and Inspiration by Patricia Romanowski, & Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's, & The ABCs of Life : Lesson One: The Skills We All Need but Were Never Taught, by Jon Oliver and Michael Ryan, & The Social Work Skills Workbook by Barry Cournoyer, & Conversationally Speaking : Tested New Ways to Increase Your Personal and Social Effectiveness by Alan Garner. Ask at your bookstore, or go to www.amazon.com If you have difficulty looking people in the eye, try focusing on the bridge of their nose, for 2 - 3 seconds only (or you may be thought to be staring, or, at the very least, rude) then look away for 5 - 10 seconds, then repeat. Hypnosis is merely a heightened state of suggestibility, in which you are better able to communicate with your subconscious mind. 85% of people are suggestible, to some degree, so you could either preferably seek professional hypnotherapy. If not an option, hypnosisdownloads.com has ones on: making eye contact & conversation starter, and: overcome shyness and social anxiety & meeting people, etc. Because of their borderline obsessive interests, and lack of social skills, many Aspies stay indoors a great deal, and don't get sufficient daily exposure to sunlight to produce adequate levels of vitamin D3. A deficiency in this very important vitamin can lead to depression, as can the social exclusion, and sometimes even bullying (see http://your-mental-health.weebly.com/1.html and page B) that they experience. Take at least 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or its FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it! In the winter months, if not getting sufficient daily exposure to strong light, see www.mercola.com SEARCHBAR: enter: "vitamin D3". Go to a doctor and ask for a 25(OH)D, also called 25-hydroxyvitamin D, blood test. When you get the results, don’t follow the typical “normal” reference range, as these are too low. The OPTIMAL value that you’re looking for is 45-52 ng/ml (115-128 nmol/l)". The company which tests your levels has to be one of those using the correct form of test, and this topic is addressed via the searchbar at Mercola.com - "vitamin D3; testing". See http://drbenkim.com/vitamin-d-facts.htm & http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/12/16/my-one-hour-vitamin-d-lecture-to-clear-up-all-your-confusion-on-this-vital-nutrient.aspx

What are some good books about joining the medical field?
Books & Authors at 06 June 2012 06:06:03
Qi am thinking about going to school and then going to med school, but i would like to learn all about the different choices, options, professions and fields i could go into. i would also like to read some books explaining being a medical student and what its like to actually become a doctor or someone in the medical field. any books regarding the topic of medical students would be great! thanks!
AI really enjoyed reading The Soul of a Doctor: Harvard Medical Students Face Life and Death edited by Susan Pories, Sachin Jain and Gordon Harper. It's a book of stories by Harvard medical students about being medical students.I also liked Match Day: One Day and One Dramatic Year in the Lives of Three New Doctors by Brian Eule, about three first year doctors. If you want books by people working in different medical professions about their experiences working, the following books that I read, I liked:You're a Medical What?! A Lighthearted Peek Into the World of a Medical Transcriptionist by Sara BurnsDelivering Doctor Amelia: The Story of a Gifted Young Obstetrician's Mistake and the Psychologist Who Helped Her by Dan ShapiroThe Woman With a Worm in Her Head by Pamela NagamiAmbulance Girl: How I Saved Myself By Becoming an EMT by Jane SternGenetic Rounds: A Doctor's Encounters In the Field That Revolutionized Medicine by Robert Marion - actually, I like all of this guy's books. Well worth reading.Better: A Surgeon's Notes on Performing by Atul GawandeEvery Patient Tells a Story: Medical Mysteries and the Art of Diagnosis by Lisa SandersStrange Behavior: Tales of Evolutionary Neurology by Harold Klawans - Klawans wrote a number of books about his patients and thoughts as a neurologist, and they are all worth reading. The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat and Other Clinical Tales by Oliver Sacks- Sacks is a neurologist who writes a lot of popular books. They are good books but only some are actually very informative about what his experiences as a doctor are like, and those are more the older books. The Mummy at the Dining Room Table: Eminent Therapists Reveal Their Most Unusual Cases by Jeffrey A Kottler and Jon Carlson - this is an EXCELLENT book In Our Hands: A Hand Surgeon's Tales of the Body's Most Exquisite Instrument by Arnold Arem - first half of the book is cases, the second half is reflectionsBaby Catcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife by Peggy VincentThe Midwife: A Memoir of Birth, Joy, and Hard Times by Jennifer WorthThe Real Life of a Pediatrician: Candid Stories Along the Path from Student to Veteran Doctor ed Perri KlassIntenive Care: The Story of a Nurse by Echo Heron
