A foam propellant system can be transportable and used by individuals to suppress a fire or cover a spill area. The system may include a water and/or foam concentrate source and a compressed air source. The water and/or foam concentrate may be mixed together with the compressed air in a mixing tube under pressure producing an expanded fluffy foam that can be propelled into the desired area.

Abstract

Oxidatively halogenate methane by placing a feedstream that comprises methane, a source of halogen, a source of oxygen and, optionally, a source of diluent gas in contact with a first catalyst (e.g. a solid super acid or a solid super base) that has greater selectivity to methyl halide and carbon monoxide than to methylene halide, trihalomethane or carbon tetrahalide. Improve overall selectivity to methyl halide by using a second catalyst that converts at least part of the feedstream to a mixture of methyl halide, methylene halide, trihalomethane, carbon tetrahalide and unreacted oxygen, and placing that mixture in contact with the first catalyst which converts at least a portion of the methylene halide, trihalomethane and carbon tetrahalide to carbon monoxide, hydrogen halide and water.

Abstract

Disclosed is an expandable transluminal sheath, for introduction into the body while in a first, small cross-sectional area configuration, and subsequent expansion of at least a part of the distal end of the sheath to a second, enlarged cross-sectional configuration. The sheath is configured for use in the upper vascular system and has utility in the introduction and removal of therapeutic or diagnostic microcatheters. The access route is through the femoral arteries or the iliac arteries to the cerebrovasculature. The distal end of the sheath is maintained in the first, low cross-sectional configuration during advancement to the cerebrovasculature. The distal end of the sheath is subsequently expanded using a radial dilatation device, which is removed prior to the introduction of microcatheters. The sheath can be inserted in a first, small cross-sectional configuration, be expanded diametrically to a second, larger cross-sectional configuration, and then be reduced to a diametrically smaller size for removal.
