Abstract

An apparatus and method for coupling a device to a semiconductor processing chamber is provided. The apparatus generally comprises a first ring disposed proximate a second ring. An energy dissipating media is disposed between the first and second rings. Upon the application of a torsional force in excess of a predetermined amount, the first ring rotates relative to the second ring. The energy dissipating media absorbs or dissipates some or all the energy applied to the first and second rings.

Claim

What is claimed is: 1. Apparatus for coupling a device to a processing chamber comprising: a first ring; a second ring adapted to rotate relative to the first ring; an energy dissipation ring disposed between said first ring and said second ring; and a turbomolecular pump coupled to said second ring. 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first ring further comprises: one or more blades projecting from said first ring. 3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said blade further comprises: a bearing disposed thereon. 4. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said energy dissipation ring further comprises: an outer diameter having one or more recesses that interface with said one or more blades. 5. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the relation between the geometry of the first ring, the second ring and the energy dissipation ring may be expressed as: ( g - h ) V = μ τ c where: g is the distance between the first ring and the second ring; h is the gap between the blade and the opposing ring through with the energy dissipation ring flows; V is the initial velocity of the first ring including a factor of safety between 0. 0 to about 3. 5; &tgr;c is the critical shear stress of the energy dissipation ring; and &mgr; is the viscosity of the energy dissipation ring. 6.

The present invention is directed to curcumin analogs exhibiting anti-tumor and anti-angiogenic properties, pharmaceutical formulations including such compounds and methods of using such compounds.

Claim

That which is claimed: 1. A compound of the formula: wherein: R1-R8 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy, CF3, alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, alkaryl, arylalkyl, heteroaryl, substituted heteroaryl, heterocycle, Substituted heterocycle, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, carboxylic acid, carboxylic ester, carboxamide, nitro, cyano, azide, alkylcarbonyl, acyl, and trialkylammonium; X is O, S, SO, SO2, or NR, wherein R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, substituted alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, heteroaryl, substituted heteroaryl, heterocycle, substituted heterocycle, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl and dialkylaminocarbonyl; the dashed lines indicate the presence of optional double bonds; or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 2. A method of treating cancerous tissue in a subject, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of formula wherein: each Y is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy, alkyl, amino, alkylamino, and dialkylamino; R1-R8 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy, alkyl, amino, alkylamino, and dialkylamino; X is O, S, or NR; R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, heteroaryl, substituted heteroaryl, heterocycle, and substituted heterocycle; the dashed hues indicate the presence of optional double bonds; or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 3. A method according to claim 2, wherein the effective amount comprises an amount sufficient to inhibit VEGF production in the cancerous tissue. 4.
