5 method to the madness of phrase-structure grammar?Mathematics at 24 October 2007 05:10:40 QIf you have G = (V, T, S, P) where V= { a, b, A, B, S}, T = {a, b}S is the start symbol, and P = {S --> ABa, A --> BB, B --> ab, AB -->, AB -->b}. Can someone please explain how to get to the production portion of this problem as simply as possible. I just don't understand how to take information from one set and the other and make the sets to get to the production answer of this problem. What I don’t understand is to start with S from G= (V, T, S, P) and take what is in the V=set { a, b, A, B, S} and T = {a, b} to get S--> ABa, A-->BB etc. Each one, hope this makes sense. AI don't understand the question.A phrase structure grammar consists of a set of rewrite rules P. The language defined by the grammar is the set of all strings consisting entirely of terminal symbols (from the set T), that can be derived from (by means of rewriting) from the starting symbol, S.For example:SABa (using S--> ABa)a (using AB -->)SABaBBBa (using A --> BB)abababa (using B --> ab three times)etc.so "a", "ba", "ababaaba", are in the language, but "b" is not.In this case, the language is finite and rather small. In the general case, it can be infinite. If this doesn't help, please ask you question in a different way so we can figure out what it is you don't understand.
Best Answer : by simplicitus at 26 October 2007 08:10:06 Deciding ambiguity in BNF Grammer or Context Free Grammar?Programming & Design at 09 February 2010 05:02:35 QGiven a vocabulary of terminal symbols T={a,b}, consider the language L = { W | W=Wr and W is non-empty } (where Wr denotes the reverse of W). L is the set of all non-empty palindromes over the alphabet {a,b}: sequences of symbols that are the same forwards and backwards. L = { a, b, aa, bb, aaa, aba, bab, bbb, aaaa, abba, . . . }. Construct a context-free grammar for L by specifying N, a set of non-terminals, and an appropriate set of production rules. (You may use BNF notation, which will automatically identify N.)My work S -> AThe axioms of L could be1) both "a" and "b" are in L2) if "x" is in L, then "axa" and "bxb" are in LPut another waystart with SS can become either aSa , bSb, or the empty string.
Best Answer : by Michael E at 09 February 2010 06:02:12 Career Change: Accountant or Paralegal?Financial Services at 10 September 2008 10:09:48 QHello,I am 35 years old and I would like to start a new career. I have a rather varied and experienced past job profile; model, bartender, administrative assistant, photography assistant, film production manager, and currently, a media analyst for top pharmaceutical companies.I need a relatively stable and well-paying career, and I am willing to go back to school to "land the job".I already have a BA in Anthropology.I see that to become a paralegal I should obtain a certificate through an ABA-approved program, but to become an accountant...I can either get a 2nd Bachelor's or try for a Master's in Accounting. Also, what types of jobs and salaries are out there for a non-CPA accountant with a degree in Accounting?Which job would you choose? I do understand that ultimately this should and will be my choice, but since both of these industries are brand new to me, I would like some objective opinions from people who know.Becoming a paralegal seems to be a quicker process, but on multiple forums I have heard of the horrors of stress in this field.I should also note that I think that I would enjoy either of these jobs equally. How would you compare job stability, job growth/openings, job stress, and salary for these two career paths?Thank you. Also, a Paralegal Certificate can be acquired in less than a year and rather inexpensively, whereas it seems that one needs a Master's to become an Accountant, which equals more money and more time. Which education + career path has more bang for its buck :)? AAs for the accounting route you have to ask yourself do you and numbers get along. Many times accountants have to add up and add up again balances and reconcile. For example, a cash account, if the books say there is $56,304.30 but the audit says there is only $45,493.49 then you will have to figure out which balance is correct, maybe neither. During audit season from say February to April you can expect 10-12 days and often weekends. The good thing is you get paid for these hours. CPA's have learned the art of joke telling and some drink heavily to relieve stress. One boss would go to the gym during lunch break for stress. Being a CPA is a fairly prestigious credential. Bosses like to threaten to fire someone if they can't reconcile all of the accounts by Sunday noon for example. Once minted with the CPA license and as head of an accounting dept you will do the slave driving and have a much easier time and earning the big bucks. I think this and my other answer are your best responses. :)

In terms of job prospects, stress, and salary...are they really equal? Also, a Paralegal Certificate can be acquired in less than a year and rather inexpensively, whereas it seems that one needs a Master's to become an Accountant, which equals more money and more time. Which education + career path has more bang for its buck :)? Awell i think you will have to decide if you like numbers math and the feeling that every thing has to balance vs research -- reading and forming opinion!!! both would be great choices and equal in pay and benefits!!!
