AYes I have played Alpha Centauri.Civilization feels like a slightly slower game. You can't modify the terrain, or build on water. Civ 5 units are static, you can' customize them.On the other hand in Civ 5 the terrain makes more sense. Cities are more capable and can defend themselves. Taking over cities requires more strategies, as units can't stack and can attack from more angles.Depends on what you mean by features. They are both strategy games by the same company so the basic ideas are very similar. You try to take over the world through diplomacy, science, war, or culture (civ 5 only) building cities and units while investing in technology. It's the details that make the games different.

Awell the chances of it hitting anything are slim, so i would say as long as it is programmed correctly and there is no mechanical failure, there is no reason to think it would be anything but a stunning success.But there is one thing to think about- with technology progressing at an almost exponential rate, there is a very good chance that if we did launch a probe, we would descover a new means of propulsion while it is inroute and humans could beat the probe there.
