In February of 2011, I directed the Anthony Aston Players' (AAP) production of "God of Carnage" (2008) by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton. This production was staged in WFU's Ring Theatre in Scales Fine Arts Center. The Ring is a thrust stage and is usually used as such. However, through a composite of inspiration, commitment, and hard-work from designers, actors, and stage management, this ambitious production was staged very successfully in the round (arena). Last November, I directed Harold Pinter's political drama "Mountain Language" (1988) for my Theatre major requirement. This production was staged in WFU's Ring Theatre in Scales Fine Arts Center, which is a "Thrust".space. Although the rehearsal period was extremely short (aprox. 2-3 weeks), I still could not have asked for a better overall production/rehearsal experience . I attribute this to the superlative cast, the visionary designers, the unwavering support from stage management, my studio series faculty mentor Brook Davis, as well as faculty members Cindy Gendrich, Mary Wayne-Thomas, JERF, and THE 385: Studio Production class. I am very proud to call this production my directorial debut.
    08/2010 - 11/2011
I have sound designed & engineered a total of 8 WFU productions - 2 faculty directed Mainstage productions & 6 student directed Ring productions:The Imaginary CuckoldThe Brothers Menaechmus Mountain Language Land of the Dead The Man Who Couldn't DanceBreast MenHelter SkelterThe Man Who Turned Into a StickI have also worked as a proficient sound technician for a major musical production at WFU (City of Angels). I have also proven myself to be an apt sound board operator for a student directed full-length production (The Last Day of Judas Iscariot).
    05/2011 - 09/2011
Title: The Political Dramas of Harold Pinter: Torture & The Totalitarian StateFaculty Mentor: Dr. Cindy Gendrich, WFU Professor of Theatre1.Compiled dramaturgical research on the poetry and dramas of British Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter, especially his work written from 1984 to 2006.2.Gained a better understanding of Pinter's depictions of fear & the effects of physical and psychological forms of torture.3.Used both Hannah Arendt's "The Origins of Totalitarianism" & Elaine Scarry's "The Body in Pain" to gain a better understanding of how Pinter structures language & silence as a means to manipulate dramatic tension & power dynamics amongst characters.
